Bread Fund – Mutual support for London self-employed

Nov 22nd
19:00 - 21:00

Bread Fund London

Bread Funds are a new way for self-employed people and freelancers to support each other if they become unable to work. They started in the Netherlands, where there are over 200 groups with over 10,000 members.

This meeting is for self-employed people who might be interested in setting up a group in London to pilot the idea in the UK.

A Bread Fund is a group of 20 to 50 people who contribute money each month into a fund which can support any of its members who become unable to work through illness or injury. It operates by members supporting each other on the basis of mutual trust. Contributions to the fund, and payments by the fund to its members, are in the form of gifts. You can choose from different levels of contributions: the level you choose is related to the income you would like to receive if you become unable to work.

Bread Funds are about people supporting each other. If you are unable to work for more than 30 days, Bread Funds not only provide financial support but practical and moral support from your fellow group members – something no insurance company can offer.
