FuckUp Nights VOL VII: Stories about failures and other things

LESSONS FROM ENTREPRENEURS WHO’VE FAILED AND SURVIVED

Starting in Mexico in 2012, the movement is all about celebrating and learning from entrepreneurial and professional failure – as lets face it 9 out of 10 enterprises fail. Let’s applaud you risk takers for getting back on your feet and also take the fear out of messing things up. FuckUp Nights is a global movement where stories of failed businesses and projects are told, questioned and celebrated!

In each FuckUp Night 4 or 5 fuckupreneurs share their stories of failure including:

  • What was their project?
  • What did they do wrong?
  • What did they learn?
  • What would they do differently?

At the end of each story, the audience asks questions. All accompanied by beer and good friends.

Saul Minkoff

Saul Minkoff is a strategy & innovation consultant at Business 3.0, a firm specialising in re-inventing big businesses (FTSE 100) through transformative businesses models and purposeful culture. Prior to moving to London to join Business 3.0 Saul co-founded Pulse Savings, a mobile commitment savings tool designed to help low-income families in developing countries save money for a rainy day. Something that started as an entry to a business plan competition in 2012 quickly took Saul and his team from the kitchen table through the Silicon Valley Venture Capital ecosystem, within spitting distance of the $1million Clinton-Sponored Hult Prize, and eventually to where they always wanted to be – Urban India.

Vernon Dias

Vernon is Founder and Design Director at Made by Fire, a global digital agency headquartered in London with a headcount of 75 people. He set up one of India’s first digital agencies in 1997 and moved to the UK in 2005 to set up the business here. In 2009, Vernon made a decision that involved the word TRUST and lost everything that he had built for 12 years. He lost his home and became homeless with his wife and son. Vernon does not consider this as a failure but a defining moment in his life which helped him to rediscover himself, but also changed his relationship with money. He has now rebuilt his business and is helping young entrepreneurs to launch their digital products using a culture of speed.
