Let’s come together and get ready to mingle! We are super excited to announce that we’ll be collaborating with trend-setter Lida Hujić to host a Maverick Mondays at Impact Hub King’s Cross.

Maverick Mondays is a unique concept that celebrates innovators, who drive new trends by challenging the status quo with inclusivity and sustainability at its heart. From a one-off, it turned into a series of events at the private club, Soho House. Once a month, members took their Monday evenings off to do something good and get inspired by visionaries… until the wretched COVID 19 pandemic rudely interrupted the flow.

Maverick Mondays brings to life Lida’s new book The 2.5%: Small Group – Big Influence, which shows how new societal scenarios for the better good emerge out of the union of arty and entrepreneurial characters from the margins, especially at times of crises. They constitute only 2.5% of the global population but these hidden influencers shape the trends that we all eventually buy into.

In this special, defiant edition post pandemic, Lida will be in conversation with pioneering house music DJ and producer, Mark Moore. Following a presentation of her book’s main themes, Lida will host a Q & A with Mark, covering his experience and trajectory to global fame, the enduring legacy of ‘acid house’, its constant reinvention, the milestones (the second summer of love driven by Mark and his peers; revival by nu-rave and most recently, the third summer of love), DIY enterprise, connections between the rave ethos and the rise of conscious consumerism. Fundamentally, there is a link between the idea of social enterprise and the rave culture:  to create positive social change, which is what Impact Hub is about.

We’re chuffed to be featured in this book! Read about Impact Hub on p 257 😉. We’re in good company, as the book is packed full of great, real-life examples. It also charts the rise of social enterprise in shaping the future economies. So, lots of food for thought and tips! If you fancy a copy for £2.50 instead of £25.00 (yes, a whopping 90% off) – use code: impacthub (valid until 10th October).

Once described as ‘really hip’ by The Guardian, Lida is an author, public speaker, curator, innovation & trends consultant, who trades in cool currency, by advising brand clients as well as masterminding some of the most influential global (micro) trends. She’s the recipient of a MTV Video Music Award in ‘best academic achievement’ for PhD about MTV, Goldsmiths’ College. Watch out for our next newsletter and make sure you follow us on social platforms in the build-up to the event, as we reveal more exciting information about this event and Lida’s guests, who’ll be joining us.

This event is free for members and friends but capacity will be limited – so signing up will be essential.

Canapes kindly supplied by Humdingers of Hoxton street. Special thanks for their support: Randy from the The Better World Group and photographer Dougie Wallace.
